Subsidiary in Bulgaria
Along with stricter environmental standards and regulations after the EU membership in 2007, Bulgaria is now obligated to spend major funds on the construction of sewer networks, water supply and water treatment plants.

The EU environmental program 2007–2014 states that the 124 municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants shall meet EU standards before the end of 2014. Thereafter, wastewater treatment plants are to be built in all remaining agglomerations with 2,000 to 10,000 inhabitants. The investments totals approximately EUR 1.1 billion in allocated funds.
Malmberg Water AB has taken the strategic decision to establish a 100 per cent owned subsidiary in Sofia – Malmberg Water EOOD. Norwegian citizen Jo Lindenhoff, who lives and works in Bulgaria since 2003, will head the daily operation of the subsidiary. Jo comes from a position at Sweco, where he was in charge of the company's business development in Bulgaria.

Malmberg Water EOOD's office is located in the diplomatic quarter of Sofia, opposite the Sofia World Trade Center and the German and Russian embassies.
