In the residential area of Annestad in Bunkeflostrand, just outside Malm\u00f6, you’ll find eight energy centers supplying 750 apartments with renewable energy from the ground. Pretty cool, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malmberg has drilled 82 energy wells in the area to extract energy from the bedrock, each energy well reaching a depth of 350 meters. Together, they amount to an impressive total drilling depth of nearly 29,000 meters. The extracted energy is transferred to the energy centers, where it is converted and distributed to meet the buildings’ energy needs. Malmberg’s role in the project was as the turnkey contractor. Responsible for system design, project planning, production, installation, and commissioning of the facility. The assignment also included extensive energy well drilling and the complete piping installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eight energy centers provide heating and domestic hot water to the buildings, covering a total living area of 47,000 m\u00b2, through a closed-loop collector system. The free energy harnessed from the bedrock has been measured at approximately 4,800 MWh per year. This has enabled a reduction in purchased energy by around 72% compared to previous operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The total installed heat pump capacity amounts to approximately 1.4 MW, distributed across 19 heat pumps. In total, it is estimated that CO\u2082 emissions have been reduced by around 970 tons per year. This can be compared to the annual emissions of roughly 400 gasoline-powered passenger cars.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
