Bioenergie Genossenschaft St. Lorenzen Chooses Malmberg’s Membrane Plant

Bioenergie Genossenschaft St. Lorenzen, a cooperative with 15 years of experience producing green electricity from biogas, has chosen Malmberg’s GRM50 membrane plant for their transition to biomethane production.

The plant, located in St. Lorenzen in northern Italy will be producing up to 250 Nm³/h of biomethane. Previously used for electricity generation, the biogas will now be upgraded with membrane technology. The biomethane will be fed directly into the gas grid, serving both local businesses and individual consumers. The cooperative, consisting of around 80 members, collects over 60,000 cubic meters of manure and agricultural residues annually, including for example potato waste and apple leftovers. This sustainable approach not only supports renewable energy production but also promotes environmentally friendly agricultural practices by reducing waste and emissions.

Malmberg plans to commission the plant in autumn 2025, contributing to the region’s shift toward sustainable energy solutions.

Malmberg X Axiom Membrane Plant

Through our collaboration with Axiom, we have developed a membrane-based solution that makes it easy to upgrade biogas and convert exhaust gases into clean, usable CO2. The purified CO2 can be applied in various carbon capture systems or industrial processes, promoting environmental sustainability and efficient resource use.
